Trending Styles - Botanical's

I love monitoring new styles popping up about me. It is amazing how subtly something can permeate into your consciousness. Quickly the initial leanings, often seen in marketing through font types and colour choices,  become a well recognised style all of there own.

One I am absolutely loving right now is a style I have dubbed Botanical's. I'm not sure what the correct term would be but it sits as that in my head as it sits so beautifully with flowers and evokes feelings of relaxation and being in harmony with nature. I first saw this one popping up years ago in brand labels such as Aesop who really epitomise this style. A great Melbourne partnership, March Studio, have designed some stores for them lately which are just stunning. Check out this link on The Design Files for a great interview with them, and as a side their work on a great modern extension to an old Victorian Farmstead has also been featured on Dream Build here.

Some of the hall marks of the style are raw timbers, mosiac white tiles, polished concrete, the use of plants as both living and in scientific prints. Colour schemes are dominated by white, black, grey, timbers and greens. There is also a mixture of reclaimed, vintage and new materials. Here are some examples.

If find the light and mood created by this style so alluring. It is influencing many of my own style choices lately and although I like to always try and blend across styles, this one is hard to hold back on! Here are some works in progress.

I will keep you updated on their progression. Have a very prosperous new year! I hope that it is full of joy and satisfaction.
